Islamic Sites in Jordan
Jordan is an important destination for Muslims who wish to visit Shrines, Tombs of Prophets and Companions. The country is rich in religious history and amazing tourist spots.

·         Shrine of the Venerable Companion Bilal bin Rabah

Located in Amman at the village of Bilal in Bayader Wadi Al-Seer, is the tomb of the Venerable Companion Bilal bin Rabah.

While Bilal is still a slave he embraced Islam, this brought him anger of his master Umayyah ibn Khalaf. During the summer heat in Mecca, Umayyah tried to pressure him to reject his faith by putting a giant rock on his chest.

Bilal bin Rabah fought bravely in the Battles of Badr and Uhud, where he was able to avenge himself from his former master.  

Gifted with a beautiful voice Bilal became a Prophet.

·         Kahf Al Raqim / Cave of Seven Sleepers

Located in the village of Al-Raqim is the Cave of the Seven Sleepers mentioned in the Holy Quran in a Sura, named Al-Kaft. A group of devout youth took refuge in this cave when they were persecuted by Tarjan. The Cave still stands Byzantine and Roman ruins as well as the mosque, which exactly fit the descriptions in the Holy Quran. The cave was discovered in 1963 A.D.

·         Mosque & Tomb of Prophet Shuayb

The mosque is situated in the Wadi Shuayb (Salt City) just 30 kms northwest of Amman. The mosque is a modern construction and it houses a refurbished tomb of the Prophet Shuayb in a room to the east of the main mosque and prayer area.

Shuayb believed he was sent as a Prophet to communities of Midianites and the People of the Wood. He is believed to live after Abraham, he’d been one of the few Arabian Prophets mentioned by name in the Quran, like Saleh, Hud, Ismael and Mohammad.

·         Tomb of Prophet Ayyub

Situated in south west of Salt in area known as Khirbet Ayyoub is the tomb of Prophet Ayyub mentioned in the Holy Quran. His renowned patience and faith gave him strength to bear tremendous hardships, later on he was rewarded with blessings as mentioned in Sura 21, Verses 83 - 84.

·        Shrine of the Prophet Hud

The Shrine of the Prophet Hud is located near Jerash, he is a descended from Prophet Noah. Allah sent him to tribe Aad known for their strength and size, the tribe is said to live in the Yemen, to warn them to worship one God but they ignored and mocked him. The 11th chapter in the Qur’an was named after him.

The Blessed Tree
Near the town Safawi, east of Amman, in the area of Mafraq is where the Blessed Tree is located. Here Prophet Mohammad met as a young boy Bahira, the Christian monk who foretold his career as a Prophet. The meeting happened under the shade of a tree. 




Cave & Monastery of the Prophet Lut 

Prophet Lut migrated from Iraq and lived in the area south of the Dead Sea. With his daughters he fled God's destruction of his village Sodom due to immoral practices its inhabitants. God turned his wife into a pillar of salt for disobeying God's command not to look back at Sodom as it burnt.


To go to Lut’s Cave you’ll have to follow the road leading up the hill behind the Museum at the lowest place on earth. You have to take stairs to reach the top you’ll see interesting facts along the way. There is a spectacular view of the Dead Sea, Israel and surrounding landscapes that you can see on your way down.
