Hot Air Ballooning & Microlight Flight in Wadi Rum Desert

You can do several aero sports activities in Wadi Rum and experience the breathtaking desert landscape from an eagle eye view. For optimal conditions flights take place in the early morning. All flights are arranged by the Royal Aero Sports Club of Jordan based in Aqaba. The club has all insurance coverage required by the Civil Aviation Authority including third party and passenger insurance. Flights are subject to confirmation up to 24 hours in advance. In case of bad weather conditions or technical issues payments are fully refundable.

Hot Air Ballooning
takes place during the early morning hours (05:00/06:00am) and last for around an hour, but you should allow 2 to 3 hours for the whole experience. The flight will take you to 6,000 feet above the ground. There are two balloons with different capacities (5 and 16 persons). The 5 persons balloon needs a minimum of 3 to operate while the 16 persons balloon need a minimum of 8. Bring a light jacket in the summer and a warm one in the winter as temperature drops dramatically as the balloon rises. A sun hat or cap is advisable and flat shoes are recommended.
Prices: 190 USD per adult, 95 USD per child (6-12 years).




Microlight Flights
are available on weekends in Wadi Rum only. You have to book at least 3 days in advance, there is only one of these aircrafts existent. The microlight is a small, open and versatile, aircraft with 2 seats. With a pilot you fly above the beautiful rock formations of Wadi Rum choosing the time from 10 minutes to 1 hour.
Prices per person: 43 USD (10 minutes), 78 USD (20 minutes), 114 USD (30 minutes), 212 USD (60 minutes).

Jordan Tours during Ramadan

Still the site is under construction but I could not wait to write something. As we received in the last days emails from clients wanting to know about the situation for travelers during Ramadan, this is the topic for the first post. Ramadan is the holy month of fasting, in which Muslims are not allowed to eat, drink and smoke from dawn until sunset. The Ramadan date varies according to the Islamic lunar calendar, in 2011 it is expected to be between 1st and 29th August (+/- 1 day according to the actual sight of the moon). Due to fasting people are less active, especially in summer when the days are long and hot. Offices and shops have shorter opening hours, so many stores, banks and offices close early at 14:00.
