Ramadan in Jordan Ramadan is the 9 th month in the Islamic Calendar, the holy month of fasting in which Muslims are not allowed to eat, drink and smoke from dawn until sunset. The Islamic calendar is about 10-11 days shorter than the Gregorian calendar hence the start of Ramadan falls on different dates and is based on the visual sightings of the crescent moon.
