Ramadan in Jordan Ramadan is the 9 th month in the Islamic Calendar, the holy month of fasting in which Muslims are not allowed to eat, drink and smoke from dawn until sunset. The Islamic calendar is about 10-11 days shorter than the Gregorian calendar hence the start of Ramadan falls on different dates and is based on the visual sightings of the crescent moon. In 2016 the holy month is expected between 06 June to 06 July, plus or less 01 day according to the actual sight of the moon. Ramadan Decoration What to expect when travelling during Ramadan? Touring Jordan or any other Middle East country during the holy month has its advantages and disadvantages.
